Baba Ali

last year, Nadia Syazana or Kak Nad (not the one in CPU) had wrote or share in her blog about this cool guy.. the name is Ali Ardekani which he changed to Baba Ali after he converted to Islam.. he's an American, works in IT at California, USA.. enough about bio..


what really cool about this guy is he has started some or by now, many projects using Islamic concept to help and guide us Muslims.. it's like a 'ceramah', but in a way cooler style, as in his videos.. he try to convey the message to the audience using humour which is for me, very easy to understand.. and the issues that he picked is very related to our daily life.. check out his website


i think i hadn't watch Baba Ali videos since last year.. but thanks to this person (i can't remember who), who posted one of the videos in his Facebook wall, i now follow closely to Baba Ali's next videos.. He usually will update his video posts once a week.. so, by subscribing to ummahfils at Youtube, i hope i'll never miss anything again..

among Baba Ali's projects include 'ummahfilms', the game 'Kalimaat', the game Mecca to Medina' (a game about trading and compromising with other players) and lastly the 'Half Our Deen' website.. this website is like ordinary match-making website for men and women to search for their Mr. or Mrs. Right, only this one is for Mulims.. but, it is not the same.. only the concept is alike, but the way it finds our pair is different.. you get to ask your pair questions for them to ask.. for example, as Baba Ali said, questions like "What is your view about Islam", which is very abstract but important.

dont worry, i'm not going to sign up in the website, at least for now.. haha.. it's just i really envy what Baba Ali did to the Muslim world.. even the "New York Times" and "USA Today" recognize what he did in the States.. He even had been in a television series in UK.. thank you Baba Ali..

ASME HPV East 2013: Log 5 - Good Ending

We're now on the way back to Toronto, after the Banquet Ceremony at Ferris. The only event today was the Endurance Race, where bike-utilitiness was tested. Whether the bike can go across a S-turn, hairpin turn, downhill, uphill, stop at stop sign, bumps, etc. The new thing the organizer put in this year was that each team must take in and put out a grocery bag (with groceries inside) to a station for 3 sets. Anyway, UofT team did very well in the event. We were a bit slow during the obstacles, but since we have three wheels, there's no need for any of the other team member to be along the course of the Endurance, helping to get the bike up. Well, we didnt actually allowed to do that, as it was against the rules (which was different last year). We get the 1st Place for the Endurance event, with 4 more laps than Missouri M&T and Rose Hulman. The final prize and other prizes were given during Banquet. We got 3rd in Men's Drag, 3rd in Women's Drag, 1...
